A murder investigation is under way after a man was shot dead in Dublin.

The attack took place outside a house at Harty Avenue, Walkinstown, shortly before 21:30 local time on Sunday.

The man was taken to St James' Hospital but he was pronounced dead about half an hour after the shooting.
