County Kildare: Murder inquiry after body discovered in field

Police have begun a murder inquiry into the death of a 20-year-old man whose body was found in a field in the Republic of Ireland.

The body of Silvestras Stoskus was discovered at Cornamucklagh, Broadford, in County Kildare shortly before 15:30 local time on Wednesday.

He had been missing from his home in County Westmeath since 8 March.

A post-mortem examination was carried out but police have not released the results for "operational reasons".

Officers have appealed to anyone who saw or spoke to Mr Stoskus between 8 and 18 March to contact them.

They also want to hear from anyone who may have seen suspicious activity between those dates either near his home at Bun Daire, Kinnegad, County Westmeath, or in Broadford, where his body was found.
