A shed fire burnt so intensely that it damaged a number of nearby houses, Guernsey Fire and Rescue Service said.

Two fire engines were sent to Route Summerfield, in the Vale, after the fire was reported about 1300 GMT on Friday.

The road was blocked for about an hour-and-a-half.

Duty officer Andy Mauger said no-one was injured, but as it was in a residential area it could have been much more serious.
