Guernsey's social security funds reach £722m

The value of Guernsey's social security investment funds has increased by more than 12% in a year, the States says.

Their combined value at the end of December was £722m, an increase of 12.43% on their value in December 2009, when the funds stood at £642m.

Social Security Minister Mark Dorey said the funds were still suffering slightly from the effects of the 2008 stock market plummet.

But he added that he was pleased they were recovering.
