Guernsey heroin smuggler jailed

A Guernsey man has been jailed for more than six years for trying to smuggle heroin into the island.

Daniel Pipet, 31, of St Martins Residential Hotel, was stopped while travelling from Weymouth in October.

He was carrying 52.8g (1.9oz) of the class A drug, which the court heard was worth about £31,000.

Pipet was sentenced to six years and six months in prison at Guernsey's Royal Court on Tuesday.
