Upturned yacht teenagers treated for hypothermia

French teenagers found clinging to the upturned hull of a catamaran, have been treated for hypothermia.

The Channel Islands Air Search plane took part in a five-hour search on Sunday morning.

It was called out after a Hobie catamaran with two 15-year-olds on board went missing.

French rescue authorities said if the pair had not been wearing neoprene wet suits their chances of survival would have been considerably reduced.

After the catamaran was found two miles off Denneville, the pair were taken on board a local ferry and taken to Carteret.

They were then taken by ambulance from the port to Valognes Hospital for treatment.

During the search the Channel Islands plane scoured about 150 sq miles of sea.
