Guernsey States to debate data protection changes

A change to Guernsey's data protection laws would allow easier exchange of criminal record information with the UK, the Home Department has said.

A vetting bureau was set up in October to allow full criminal records bureau checks to be done for anyone applying for a job working with children.

The island's system was intended to mirror the UK's vetting scheme, before it was scrapped in February.

The changes are due to be discussed at the States meeting in June.
