Deputy Barry Brehaut stands down from Health

A second Guernsey politician is to step down from the Health and Social Services Department board.

Deputy Barry Brehaut confirmed he was to follow Deputy Andrew Le Lievre in leaving the department.

The move follows calls for the resignation of the board in the May meeting of the States of Deliberation.

The resignations have come as a result of the department - with the exception of its minister - refusing to support a report it previously signed up to.

Deputy Minister Le Lievre resigned after coming under fire in last week's States debate when he proposed the department's report into long-term care housing be rejected.
