Guernsey Health Department board 'should all resign'

The whole board of Guernsey's Health and Social Services Department (HSSD) should resign to secure its position for the future, a deputy has said.

Deputy Roger Domaille said it was time for HSSD to seek a new mandate.

The calls came after the members, except the minister, refused to support a report their department put forward.

Deputies Barry Brehaut and Andrew Le Lievre have already stepped down following calls for the resignation in the May meeting of the States.

Health Minister Hunter Adam said he was considering his own position but was waiting to speak to the other two members of the board, one of whom is off island.

Deputy Domaille said: "They're all good members and they all work hard, but I think they should all resign and stand again and then you've got a clean mandate to proceed.

"If they don't then when they come back with the next report there's always going to be the risk of someone suggesting 'you're a fractured board'."
