Gun salute for Queen's birthday at Guernsey fortress
The Queen's official birthday has been celebrated with a 21-gun salute from a harbour fortress in Guernsey.
The salute was fired from Castle Cornet at 1200 BST by local armed forces veterans.
Saluting battery commander Marco Ciotti said the castle was one of 14 places in Britain that could perform the duty.
Mr Ciotti said: "The royal salute is a sign of allegiance from the people of Guernsey to Her Majesty the Queen."
The salute included a visiting crew from the Honourable Artillery Company, a territorial unit and a regiment from the British Army.
