Guernsey sand racing 'safety standard is high'

Safety standards are high at Guernsey sand races according to bosses despite an accident on Saturday.

Paul van der Tang said the Guernsey Motor Cycle and Car Club followed the motorsport regulations but "improvements can always be made".

He said: "We'll have a debrief and if we need to change anything then we'll change it."

Nigel Ozanne, 45, had to be treated for suspected spinal injuries after his car span out and turned over.

He is recovering in hospital having suffered a chipped bone in a knee and severe bruising.
