Facebook riot messages: Three Guernsey men charged

Three Guernsey men have been charged after messages were posted on Facebook allegedly encouraging unrest.

Guernsey Police said they had been charged with "offences contrary to the telecommunications law in respect of the abuse of a social networking site".

The three, aged 21, 19 and 17, were bailed from police custody earlier and will appear before a magistrate.

It follows the posting of the message: "Petrol bombs are not sold at the riot so please bring your own!!"

A date and time were given for the event and dozens of Facebook users subsequently signed up to it.

Neither the names of the three men nor the date of the court appearance have been released.
