New Alderney half marathon record set

A new course record has been set for Alderney's half marathon, organisers said.

The event attracted 98 runners and was won by Gerry Hogg in one hour and 19 minutes.

The previous record of one hour and 21 minutes was set by Prof Jon Terry in 2010.

The event, held on Saturday, attracted runners from as far away as Hong Kong. The marathon has been held for 22 years.

Last year, 108 people took part.

Race organiser Rod Paris said he thought the fall in entrant numbers was due to financial constraints deterring people from paying the entry fee.
