Alderney lifeboat rescues crew of drifting yacht

Two sailors were rescued by Alderney's lifeboat after their yacht's engine failed in the English Channel's eastbound shipping lane.

The Roy Barker I was launched at 17:30 on Monday after the 26ft (8m) Phylion was reported becalmed and drifting about 16 miles northwest of the island.

The lifeboat was on scene within the hour and it towed the vessel into Braye Harbour shortly before 21:00 BST.

The Weymouth-registered yacht had been bound for Alderney from her home port.
