Guernsey States agrees automate late tax returns fines

Anyone in Guernsey who does not submit their tax return on time will be automatically fined in future.

The new penalties have been approved by the States and include a warning letter being sent out about a month before the fine is applied.

Treasury and Resources Minister Charles Parkinson said the system should be less resource intensive.

He said: "The current process requires significant manual intervention by staff and is cumbersome and costly."
