Guernsey States calls for clear plan on dairy industry

It could be another two years before a clear vision for Guernsey's dairy industry is produced.

Guernsey States has charged the Commerce and Employment Department to return with a report on the industry's future by December 2013.

It was a motion put forward by Deputy Andrew Le Lievre, who was formerly a manager of the Guernsey Dairy.

The recommendations of an independent review, which called for a number of changes, were just noted by deputies.

In calling for the further report, Deputy Le Lievre said the review was "difficult to read [and] devoid of vision and any general direction".
