Guernsey's Red Cross gives out £10K in welfare parcels

More than £10,000 in food and vouchers will be given to the elderly and the needy in Guernsey this Christmas by the Red Cross.

The parcels, packed by volunteers including the island's lieutenant governor and bailiff, will be delivered on Sunday.

The packages contain shop vouchers, mince pies and a Christmas pudding.

The proceeds from the charity's Grand Summer fete were used to pay for the welfare parcels.
