Guernsey education phone numbers change

Changes to phone numbers for some Guernsey schools will not be reflected in the 2012 phone books, the Education Department has said.

The numbers - for Forest, La Hougette and St Martin's Primary schools and the Vale infants - have changed due to a States project to update networks.

All four have switchboard systems that were considered obsolete.

The department said the move to a single corporate system was driven by a need to save money.

It said the change could also see the introduction of more services, including dedicated school activity lines.

There were also new numbers for the Schools' Music Service, the Youth Service and the Education Department itself, it added.

The new phone numbers have come into effect, but the existing school numbers will continue to be usable until July.

The department has apologised for any inconvenience.
