Guernsey business degree to take two years

Guernsey's first on-island full-time degree course will be delivered over two years, rather than the usual three, Guernsey Training Agency has announced.

The Business Studies degree course will be run in partnership with Bournemouth University from September 2012.

Fiona Naftel, chief executive, said she did not want to replace the opportunities offered through full-time study at a UK university.

She said it was an option for those who could not or chose not to go to the UK.

Ms Naftel said: "From discussions with schools, employers and prospective students, we know that there is growing demand for an on-island pathway to achieving a degree."

The GTA said the course would involve at least three days per week of face-to-face lectures and seminars and a fourth day set aside for tutorials and individual study.

The course will also involve students being offered work placements either locally or in Bournemouth.
