Sark journalist calls for animal trap ban

A Sark journalist is campaigning for the island's government to ban some types of animal trap after the death of a pet cat.

Bob Parsons, who edits the Sark Scribe, said the traps used were inhumane and caused unnecessary suffering.

He is to raise the issue with all 28 members of Chief Pleas and ask them to discuss the matter as soon as possible.

Mr Parsons said he thought there were not many traps, but those there were should be replaced with humane traps.

The traps are set to control the island's rodent and rabbit populations.

Chief Pleas is due to meet next on 18 April.
