A developer has defended his plans to turn a former Guernsey hotel in to 12 apartments.

Andy Hall, the director of Carterets Developments Limited, said his plan for the Hotel Les Carterets site would be in keeping with the area.

A number of residents living near the site have raised concerns over the size and scale of the proposed development.

Mr Hall said: "It is not a block of flats... there are 12 apartments, fairly low slung."

He added: "It is not as high as the existing building."

Planners at the Environment Department will vote on the proposals on a date to be confirmed.
