Guernsey lifeboat rescues yacht off Herm

A French yacht was towed to safety by Guernsey's lifeboat after its rudder failed.

The crew of the Thiophe sent out a mayday at 12:36 BST on Sunday, after it suffered problems to the west of Herm.

Trident 6, one of the Herm ferries, responded but was unable to help as the yacht had anchored in water too shallow for the ferry.

The lifeboat crew transferred to the yacht to establish a tow and the boat was safe in St Peter Port by 13:35.
