Guernsey Proms on the Pier to include cannon and bells
Guernsey's annual Proms on the Pier event is to feature a rendition of Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, using Castle Cornet's noon-day cannon.
The performance has been planned as a 20th anniversary celebration of the Guernsey Symphony Orchestra (GSO).
A 70-piece ensemble will perform from 19:30 BST on 8 September, followed by a live broadcast of the Last Night of the Proms on a big screen on Albert Pier.
The bells of the Town Church will also be incorporated into the performance.
Tim Wright, of the GSO, said: "We are very excited about the musical logistical challenge of including the Castle Cornet cannon and the Town Church bells."
He said it would be "a first for an outdoor concert in Guernsey and something that we are looking forward to".
Entry will be free for both the GSO concert and the BBC Television proms broadcast.
Complementary union jacks will be available and the event will end with a firework display.
