Former Guernsey head teacher Dave Boalch dies

The former head teacher of Guernsey's Hautes Capelles primary school, Dave Boalch, has died at the age of 63.

He retired three years ago after more than 10 years as head teacher.

Teachers, pupils, parents and Education staff said they were deeply saddened by the death of Mr Boalch, who was much loved and highly respected.

Current head teacher Sue Coughlin said: "He dedicated his life to education in the UK and Guernsey."

Born and educated in Guernsey, Mr Boalch taught in the UK before returning to the island in 1997.

Dave Kitching, the regional NAHT secretary, said: "He was a true professional and his interest in and care of the children and the schools in which he worked shone through in all his words and actions.

"He was a good friend and highly regarded by everyone."

Haute Capelles School is inviting staff and pupils to wear loud shirts and shorts as a tribute on the day of Mr Boalch's funeral.
