Guernsey governor urges islanders to think of 'less fortunate'
Islanders have been urged to think of those less fortunate than themselves this Christmas, by Guernsey's Lieutenant Governor.
Air Marshal Peter Walker said it was especially important in a year that had seen so much celebration, including the Diamond Jubilee and Olympics.
He said: "I'm always impressed by the caring and giving attitude of the people of the Bailiwick.
"Everyone has time to recognise and support those less fortunate."
Air Marshal Walker praised the efforts of the Bailiwick's Olympians and other sportsmen and women, the success of the Jubilee celebrations and the visit of the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, as well as the completion of community projects such as Les Bourgs Hospice.
He said: "To look back at 2012 was to look at a year of celebration, improvement and progress for the Bailiwick and everyone should be proud of their individual and collective achievement."
