Five Guernsey residents have been shortlisted for an unsung hero award.

Jane Northrop, Evan Ozanne, Roy Trustrum, Graham Williams and Shaun Winterflood were chosen from among 13 nominees by a panel of judges.

Whoever wins the award, which will be presented on 7 February, will also win a £3,000 holiday voucher and a £1,000 donation to a charity of their choice.

Dame Mary Perkins, one of the judges, said: "All of the nominees deserve an award for the great work they do."

She added: "It is a lovely award to judge, but we now want to encourage the public to vote for who they think should win."

Members of the public can vote for the candidates until 25 January.

The candidates have been nominated for their work and activities in a range of fields, including charity work, local politics and the performing arts.

Kim Marquis picked up the 2011 Unsung Hero award in February for her work with charities in the island.
