Blockbuster is to spare three stores in the Channel Islands from closure.

It was announced 129 stores run by the DVD and video game rental company would close, after the firm went in to administration last week.

Administrators announced two shops in Jersey and one in Guernsey would remain open, safeguarding the jobs of 17 members of staff.

Lee Manning, joint administrator with Deloitte, said further closures could be made to make the company profitable.

Ahead of the administration announcement 31 Blockbuster stores had already been given notice of closure by the company.
