Jersey court dismisses appeal against build on Zanzibar site

A two-storey house can be built on the site of the Zanzibar restaurant site in St Brelade, after Jersey's Royal Court dismissed an appeal.

Deputy Rob Duhamel, planning minister, approved the plans in May but Senator Sarah Ferguson appealed on the grounds the building was too big.

The court found the move to approve the plans had been reasonable and rejected the appeal.

Senator Ferguson said she was incredibly disappointed.

In 2010 developer Dandara successfully appealed a decision by the then planning minister to deny planning permission.

This resulted in a new set of plans in which the size and height of the building were reduced being submitted in March 2011.
