Guernsey phone line repairs 'ongoing after snow'

Repairs to Guernsey phone lines are ongoing after a number were damaged by heavy snow and strong winds.

Telecoms company Sure said fallen trees were making some faults more difficult to fix than others.

Blizzards hit the island on 11 and 12 March, felling more than 60 trees and damaging buildings.

A spokesman for Sure said: "As soon as the tree surgeons have cleared trees then we will be able to... reconnect the remaining customers."

The company said it had reconnected 70% of the damaged lines.
