Guernsey school catchment areas delay bid fails

A bid to delay changes to school catchment areas if two Guernsey schools close has been rejected.

Deputy Mark Dorey suggested the changes should be put off by a year to allow those affected to prepare.

States members disagreed by a vote of 34-11, but the changes will only come in if deputies agree to the closures.

Debate on shutting St Sampson's Infants and St Andrew's Primary Schools is due to continue on Thursday.
