Dog hammer attack may have 'homophobic motive'

A dog that was beaten with a hammer may have been attacked because of her owner's sexuality, Guernsey Police have said.

Jenny Harding's dog Alice was beaten around the head on Wednesday. Ms Harding's van was also sprayed with homophobic graffiti.

The 25-year-old, who was left traumatised by the attack, said Alice had since had an eye removed.

A police spokesman said Ms Harding, who is bisexual, may have been targeted.

He added that a hammer, paint and a paintbrush used in the attack had been left at the scene.
