A man has been jailed for 12 years for raping two girls in Guernsey during the 1970s and early 1980s.

Former taxi driver Neil Hastie, 65, had been found guilty of three historical counts of rape and three of indecent assault against underage girls.

The two victims were 11 and 13 years old at the time of the offences.

Sentencing Hastie in Guernsey's Royal Court Judge Russell Finch said the defendant "lacked any sense of remorse" and his actions were "simply evil".

Hastie was also given a five month extended sentence to be served on his release from prison.
