Guernsey postal drug importer sent to prison
A man has been sentenced to two and half years in prison by Guernsey's Royal Court after admitting importing drugs by post.
Kevin Steven Mroch, 31, pleaded guilty to one count of unlawfully importing a controlled substance.
When Mroch was stopped by police on 22 August for a drug search, a parcel containing herbal cannabis was found in bushes nearby.
The court heard the drugs worth about £12,000 weighed just over 497g (1lb).
Summing up, Judge Russell Finch said the "evidence was compelling" but the sentence "erred on the side of generous" because of problems in the defendant's personal life.
