Guernsey Police is carrying out an internal review after an officer was convicted of driving without due care and attention.

PC Russell Johnson, 26, was fined £400 and banned from driving for two months after being found guilty on Wednesday over a crash in December 2013.

He has not driven police vehicles since, the force said.

It added that it was looking at whether any further action should be taken.

PC Johnson was driving a police van which crashed into the side of another car when he drove through a red light at the junction of Victoria Avenue and Elizabeth Avenue in St Sampsons.

He had denied the charge, claiming he had been responding to an emergency call.
