Body found on Alderney beach in search for missing man

The body of a man has been found on a beach in the Channel Islands.

The dead man was discovered on rocks at Crabby Beach, between the harbour and Fort Doyle.

Police say there are no suspicious circumstances, and the death is being treated as unexplained.

Formal identification has not yet been carried out, but a search began on Monday afternoon for missing Alderney resident Keith Jones.

Police said they were concerned for the welfare of the 53-year-old who had not been seen since the weekend.

The RNLI said it launched Alderney's lifeboat at 16.40 GMT yesterday afternoon, along with Channel Island Air Search, to search the south coast of the island for the missing man.

Search Director, James Ridout, said the missing person was located in the area around Fort Doyle.
