Isle of Man shops are damaged in fire

A fire broke out above a row of shops in the Isle of Man in the early hours.

Firefighters and police were called to Lord Street, Douglas, at 0325 BST. The premises above Top Shop were on fire.

The fire service said the extent of the damage is not yet clear but there would be "considerable smoke damage" to other shops nearby.

The pavement around Top Shop has been sealed off and motorists have been asked to be extra careful while the cordon is in place.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is under way.
