Isle of Man football nets cut 'beyond repair'

Vandals have cut through football nets in the Isle of Man, damaging them beyond repair.

One set of nets was damaged at Malew Football Club in Ballasalla and four sets were cut through at King Williams College in Castletown.

The nets were cut away from the goal posts, meaning they cannot be mended, some time last Friday night.

The attacks are being linked to similar incidents which took place in the island in January.

Nets at Colby and Rushen football clubs and King William's College were cut on 9 January.

A £500 reward is being offered for information which leads to a conviction.

Police believe the damage was done overnight on Friday 18 February into Saturday 19.

The force said it was wet and windy that night and the vandals may have been in the area of King William's College for a significant time beforehand.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Isle of Man police.
