Isle of Man to be consulted on Manx public holiday
Isle of Man residents are to be consulted on plans to introduce another national holiday to the calendar.
The proposal was put forward in the House of Keys on 22 March by North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson.
Mr Henderson said the idea was of paramount importance to the island's culture and heritage.
Chief Minister Tony Brown said: "It would be helpful to hear from the public to see if they think such an occasion should be recognised."
He added: "Any proposals for creating such a day would require careful consideration in terms of justification, implication and costs."
The issue has been referred to the Council of Ministers' governance committee.
