Isle of Man ferry passenger airlifted to hospital
A passenger on a ferry heading from the Isle of Man to Birkenhead has been airlifted to hospital.
The man, who is in his 50s, was travelling on the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company's Ben-My-Chree service from Douglas when he fell ill.
He was seen by a doctor who diagnosed him with suspected appendicitis and recommended he be taken to hospital.
A rescue helicopter from RAF Valley in North Wales was called in to pick him up and take him to hospital in Bangor.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency said they were called at about 0920 GMT and the man was airlifted to hospital soon afterwards.
