Isle of Man youth justice team cuts child crime

A youth team in the Isle of Man has significantly cut reoffending rates for young criminals, according to government figures.

The youth justice team said positive engagement with children had reduced reoffending rates by nearly 90%.

The work involves teaching youngsters the consequences of their actions and the use of appropriate penalties.

Leader Inspector Phil Drowley said: "We seek to retain young people who offend within mainstream society."
