Sea danger warning after boy rescued near Douglas

Teenagers are being warned of the dangers of jumping into the sea around the Isle of Man after a boy had to be pulled from the water at Douglas.

The 17-year-old jumped off the sea wall on Loch Promenade into seemingly calm water and got into difficulties.

A friend brought him to shore, where he was treated by paramedics before being taken to Nobles Hospital.

The boy was kept in hospital overnight for observation but is not thought to have suffered any serious injuries.

Police said the activity always increased when warm weather and school holidays coincided.

Pc Mike Taylor said: "The young male involved in this incident was very lucky he was able to be pulled from the water in a timely manner.

"I would urge parents who are aware of their children jumping into the sea to stress the dangers of such activity and deter them from taking any unnecessary risks."
