Isle of Man constabulary launches recruitment drive

Manx police have launched a recruitment drive to get more student officers training in the Isle of Man.

The island is holding its seventh course since it started the training programmes in January 2007.

About 60 officers have undergone the training with some going on to complete degrees at Chester University.

Staff development manager Insp Keith Kinrade said: "We are looking for individuals who relish the daily challenges the job can present".

'Rigorous tests'

Recruits must be at least 18 years old and can expect to earn more than £23,000 after completing the training.

The "rigorous" recruitment process includes both fitness and aptitude tests.

More information will be available at two open days on 10 and 18 May at the police staff development centre in Onchan.
