Anchorsholme lamppost crash kills car passenger

A 21-year-old Blackpool woman died when the car she was travelling in crashed into a lamppost in Lancashire.

Seven people aged in their teens and early 20s were in the yellow MG ZR which crashed on Fleetwood Road, Anchorsholme, at 0545 BST on Tuesday.

Roseanne Cooper died at the scene. Five other passengers were taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

The driver, 20, from Pilling was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drink driving.

He has been bailed by police, pending further inquiries, and will have to report back to Blackpool central police station on 14 September.

A male passenger is being treated for a punctured lung. The other passengers suffered minor injuries.

The northbound carriageway of Fleetwood Road remains closed while police carry out an investigation.
