Ramsey council tenants to be moved after walls crack
Council tenants are being forced to move into temporary accommodation after faults were found in their homes.
Cracks have appeared on the outside of 36 houses in the Lezayre estate development.
The homes on Gladstone Avenue and Pairk Ollay have been monitored since the problem appeared in 2007.
A spokesman from Ramsey Commissioners said the concrete blocks used in construction were defective.
He added: "Communication with tenants of the affected properties continues and every effort is being made to minimise disruption.
"While there is no danger to the structure of the buildings, the faults seriously compromise the aesthetic appearance of the development."
The problem is thought to have come about due to sub-standard building materials.
