Isle of Man Parish Walk takes place

A record number of people are taking part in the Isle of Man Parish Walk.

The annual community event, in which participants aim to cover 85 miles (137km) in under 24 hours, attracted more than 1,700 entries.

The walk started at the National Sports centre at 0800 BST with entrants making their way around all 17 Manx parishes.

Former Olympian Roger Black was taking part as was Jock Waddington, who has won the event for the past three years and is keen to make this his fourth.

The most serious competitors in the Scottish Widows sponsored event will be aiming to complete the full course in less than 16 hours.
