Artwork stolen from Isle of Man church

Thieves have stolen artwork from an Isle of Man church.

The thieves struck at Trinity Church in Patrick at some time between 1000 BST on Wednesday and 0930 BST on Thursday, Manx police said.

A number of printed canvasses depicting flowers were stolen, a police spokesman said.

Pc Leanne Walsh said: "This is a disgusting act which is highly disrespectful and is likely to cause much upset in the community."

She added: "Churches are intended as buildings of sanctuary, and as a result of the actions of a few thoughtless individuals this place of worship will now have to be locked for the foreseeable future."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Isle of Man police.
