Man charged after drugs seized in Isle of Man

A man has been charged with drugs offences after class A drugs with an estimated street value of £28,000 were seized by police in the Isle of Man.

The 35-year-old, from Merseyside, is accused of importing the drug. He is due in court on Saturday morning.

A second man, 41, from the south of the island, remains in police custody for questioning.

Det Insp Maddocks, of Isle of Man police, said: "A seizure such as this is significant."

He added: "The Isle of Man Constabulary is committed to keeping the people of the island safe and anyone involved in criminal activity will be dealt with appropriately.

"If found guilty, the court has previously handed down significant sentences to people involved in the importation and supply of controlled drugs."
