TT course crash: 21-year-old man dies

Christopher Heaney

A 21-year-old man from the Isle of Man has died following a car crash near the Creg-ny-Baa more than six weeks ago.

Christopher Heaney, from Onchan, was flown to Walton Neurological Hospital on Merseyside after the crash on 3 September. No other cars were involved.

After undergoing treatment he was flown back to the island last week but died at Noble's Hospital on Sunday.

His mother, Eileen Heaney, thanked the emergency services and members of the public who attended the accident.

"I can't believe how kind everyone has been and the amount of help given to Chris and myself. Chris loved cars and his job as a valet and will be missed by all his friends and family," she said.

The police investigation is still continuing into the circumstances leading up to the accident.

The second occupant of the green Ford Scorpio is making a good recovery, say police.

A spokesman said the response from the public "had been positive and provided helpful information".
