Noble's Hospital dietician link to University of Ulster

Noble's Hospital in the Isle of Man has received accreditation to become a training centre for dietician students from the University of Ulster.

It means medics studying on a four-year degree course can now complete a 28-week practical in the Isle of Man.

Dieticians are involved in preventing and treating nutrition-related disease and illness.

A hospital spokesman said medical staff are looking forward to the challenge of supporting university students.

Currently Noble's Hospital has six dieticians who treat, among other things, malnutrition, diabetes, eating disorders, allergies and obesity.

Sarah Surgeon, Advanced Specialist Paediatric Dietician, added "We are all looking forward to the rewarding challenge of supporting students to use theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom to develop the practical skills necessary to work as a clinical dietician."
