Rise in Isle of man rate of unemployment

Unemployment in the Isle of Man increased during October, according to official figures.

The government report shows at the end of the month there were 910 people unemployed on the island, compared to 890 in September 2011.

Of that total, 669 people claiming benefits are men and 241 women.

The treasury figures indicate the highest rate of unemployment to be in the hotel and catering industry followed by retail and sales.
